How we handle your information.
Filbert Press is a small independent publisher. We collect only what we need to reply to you, send the newsletter, and run the website — and we don't share it for marketing.
What we collect, and why
Newsletter — The Filbert Press Letter
When you subscribe we store your email address (and, if you give them, name and country). We use a third-party email service to send the newsletter and to handle confirmation and unsubscribe links. We use the lawful basis of consent: you confirm by ticking the consent box and clicking the link in the confirmation email. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, or by writing to us.
On some books we offer a sample chapter (PDF) as an incentive to subscribe. You receive the download link only after you confirm your subscription via the confirmation email (double opt-in). The sample is an optional offer; you can withdraw your subscription at any time without disadvantage. We ask only for your email address.
Contact form & email
When you write to us — through the contact form or directly to info@filbertpress.com — we keep your message and reply for as long as it is useful for the conversation, and for up to 24 months afterwards in case you write again. The lawful basis is legitimate interest: replying to people who contact us. We do not use these messages for marketing.
Submissions
If you send us a proposal we read it in confidence and don't share it outside the press. We don't return materials sent by post. We keep declined submissions for up to 12 months.
Server logs & cookies
The website uses Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation to understand, in aggregate, which pages people read. We use Google Consent Mode: cookies and personal data are only set or collected if you accept them in the consent banner — you can revisit or withdraw your choice any time via "Cookie settings" in the footer.
If you additionally consent to the "Marketing" category, we load the Meta pixel (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd.; Facebook/Instagram). This lets us measure how our Instagram and Facebook ads perform (conversions) and recognise website visitors for advertising on those platforms (remarketing). Data is transferred to Meta, including to the USA. The lawful basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) UK GDPR / GDPR, and PECR); without consent the pixel is not loaded. We do not run Google advertising trackers.
Embedded video and audio (on a few pages) load only when you press play; those providers may then set their own cookies.
Who sees your data
We use a few trusted service providers to run the site, send the newsletter, and reply to messages — for example our email host, our newsletter provider, and our hosting company. They process information on our instructions only. We never sell or rent your information.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask us what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to its use, and to ask for a copy. To exercise any of these rights, write to info@filbertpress.com. We will reply within one month. If you are not satisfied with our reply, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Affiliate links
We are an affiliate of Bookshop.org and Amazon. When you click through to those retailers from our website and buy a book, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. The retailers' own privacy policies apply once you leave our site.
Changes
If we change this notice we'll update the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged by email to newsletter subscribers.
